Mrs. Crystal Sandifer, Principal

I am a York native with over 20 years of experience in education. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I began my career as a fourth grade teacher in York School District One and earned a Master of Education Degree in Reading. I served as a Literacy Coach and then earned a Master of Education Degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. I served as an instructor at York Technical College, a Parent/Teacher Specialist, and an assistant principal before becoming principal at Harold C. Johnson in 2016.  I LOVE my HCJ FAMILY, and I am so proud of my students and staff!

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for over 20 years, and we have two beautiful daughters who keep us very, very busy! We are very involved in our local church and stay busy with our girls’ dance and music lessons. We love spending time on our farm and vacationing at the beach and the mountains.

Mr. Clay Bryant, Assistant Principal

I am excited to join Harold C. Johnson Elementary School as an Assistant Principal! I believe every child deserves to learn in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where they feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. I am passionate about working alongside teachers, supporting student success, and partnering with families to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Before joining Harold C. Johnson Elementary, I served as an assistant principal at the middle school level and previously worked as a school psychologist. I hold two graduate degrees from Winthrop University: Specialist in School Psychology (S.S.P.) and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. I have spent my entire career serving York School District One!

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two little girls. We love going on outdoor adventures and cheering on our favorite sports teams.
