Mrs. Gayle Dover

Prior to working for York School District I worked for the state of South Carolina Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services. I also serve as the Children/Youth Ministry Director for First Baptist York. I am married to my wonderful husband, Leslie Dover. Our son, Christopher, is married and lives in Georgia. We currently have one grand-dog, Rusty.
My passion is working with children and youth. I love viewing the world through the eyes of a child. Everything is new and exciting! One of my favorite quotes: People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling with my husband, visiting our son in Georgia, exercising, running 5-K’s for charity events, and participating with my youth and children at First Baptist in missions.

Hello! I graduated from Clover High School and attended Winthrop University. I have been with the school district since 2008 and absolutely love my job, my students and my work family!
My husband, Josh, and I have a fun blended family. I have two daughters (Brianna and Cassidy) and Josh has two sons (Kemper and Max). We also two dogs and two cats. Never a dull moment at our house!
In my free time, I enjoy reading, gardening, music concerts, camping, baking, relaxing in my hammock and spending time with my family.
I am so lucky to be a part of the HCJ family and York School District One. It is a thrill and a joy to watch our students learn and grow.

Mrs. Beth Kearney
Bookkeeper
My name is Beth Kearney and I was raised in the York/Rock Hill area. I am so excited to be the bookkeeper here at HCJ. This will be my first year with YSD1 and at HCJ. Prior to working at YSD1, I worked for the Rock Hill School District for several years.
I have always had a passion working along children in the elementary setting. I enjoy seeing their sweet faces each morning as they walk by the front office and absolutely love hearing about their day and what they have learned.
I live in York, SC with my boyfriend along with our 3 beautiful children Daniel, Sophia and Gracie. My kids are very active and keep me busy between sports, choir, dance, and everyday life. In my spare time I enjoy travelling with my family and friends, reading, going to concerts and attending any and all sports events.
Mrs. Leeann McKinney
Behavior Intervention
I handle Behavioral Intervention here at Harold C Johnson Elementary. I have been employed here since the Fall of 2015 and I absolutely LOVE IT!! I graduated from York Comprehensive High School in 1998 and attended the University of South Carolina-Upstate. I am married to Travis, a South Carolina State Trooper, of 12 years and we have two children, Emma and Owen. When I am not I school, I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping with the best mom ever, going to Carowinds, watching Clemson football and loving on my fur babies.

I began my career with YSD1 in 1998 and have been an Applied Behavior Therapy Assistant since 2006. I truly love my job in our Autism program. I love seeing the growth the children can make!
I enjoy working in our yard, exercising and reading. I spend time at the beach as often as possible and I love spending time with family most of all
Mrs. Crystal Nichols
School Nurse
I am the school nurse for Harold C Johnson Elementary School. I am married to Mark Nichols and we have two wonderful children, Nolin and Lyla. We live in York and both my husband and I are York School District students from K-12th.
I have been a Registered Nurse for over 20 years and started at HCJ when it opened in 2011. I have worked in the hospital for 11 years in the maternity unit and NICU. I am passionate about caring for children and helping them be the best they can be. I love nurturing and sharing with the children about being healthy and taking care of themselves. My children always amaze me, from what they say to what do, it’s always an adventure being part of their world. Dr. Suess said it best. “A person’s a person no matter how small.”

I graduated from York Comprehensive High School in 2004. In 2015, I graduated from Belmont Abbey College and received my Bachelors of Art Degree in Educational Studies. I obtained a Masters in Special Education w/ Emphasis in ABA. from Webster University in 2020.
When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling, shopping, and spending time with my family. Harold C Johnson is truly a place to learn and grow. I love seeing students achieve their goals.
